Week of 11/14 to 11/20/2010 - W is for WIND

Corinna's Photo:

We happened to drive past a new windmill farm that went on for miles and miles in either direction and I thought they were beautiful. But I really thought they were beautiful when we passed them again in the evening just as the sun was setting.

Week of 11/07 to 11/14/10 - W is for WATER

Can you believe we are on W now??  We have just W,X,Y,Z left and then we start with a new year, and a new set of challenges.

Our first theme for W is WATER... which luckily is in plentiful supply around us.

Corinna's Photo: I was hiking in a county conservation park near our home and at one point crossed over this little babbling brook! I really liked the line in this shot, how the water current makes a zig-zag.

Edie's Photo:   The original photo I had in mind for the theme this week was completely different than what I am showing here.  I had planned on taking out my good old macro lens and play with some water drops.  However an impromptu trip to the beach with a friend gave me a perfect opportunity to take a different type of water photo all together.    A photo that you "big picture" people might appreciate more ;)

Please just leave your links in the comments section for us to come over and see your photos!

Week of 10/31 to 11/06 - V is for VIOLET

Don't forget, we are no longer able to use Mr. Linky. So just go ahead and comment on the photos and leave a link there.

Corinna's Photo:

I know most of you will take your photos of violet in regards to color or perhaps flower, but MY Violet is my daughter's cat! She's named after the girl Violet in the Disney movie "The Incredibles." :)

Week of 10/24 to 10/31 - V is for VIEW

This one is pretty self explanatory.   Shows us something with a VIEW!

Edie's Photo:

This was taken about 15 minutes from my home.  You would never know by looking at this pic though that the beach is only 30 minutes away, and that quite a few highly populated cities are less than 5 minutes away.

Corinna's photo:

I was in Chicago Sunday, so a perfect opportunity for a "view" photo. This view is from the 94th floor observation deck of the John Hancock Building, and it is spectacular. It was a very cloudy day, or I'm sure it would have been prettier. They say on a clear day you actually see 4 states from up there. You don't even see birds up there because they don't fly that high up! It was my first visit and I was pretty awestruck.

Our Mr. Linky thing is broken and sort of a pain in the butt, so would you please just share your links in the comment box from now on? Thanks!

Week of 10/17 to 10/24 - U is for UNDER

Oh my, we only have a few letters left in the alphabet don't we? This year is coming to an end fast, although I will admit Corinna and I are scratching our heads for what we will come up with for the letters X and Z.

Luckily we still have a few more weeks to think about it, for we are only on the 2nd week of the letter U. This week we went from looking UP to looking at things down UNDER. Let's see what you have UNDER you.

Edie's photo: I decided to go walking in a rocking ravine of sorts that actually had some water in it for once. This is a walkway that goes over it. When I took the photo I thought the over exposed/black & white look might be cool, now Im wishing I had maybe done a little less with it. Cool thing is I caught a plane in the shot without realizing it.

Corinna's photo: I stood "under" a tree and looked up for this shot.

Seems like our Mr. Linky thingamajig is more trouble than it's worth, so please just leave your links in the comments section, okay?

Week of 10/11 to 10/17 - U is for UP

Well much as we like the letter T and the two themes it brought our way, its time to move on to the next letter and theme.

This week we are asking you to look UP. What do you see when you look overhead? What you do see when you are standing up? What do you see when you are way UP high? What do you see near you that symbolizes UP?

As always, feel free to post the links to your photos below. Can't wait to see what you all came UP with.

Week of 10/3 - 10/10: T is for TREE (2nd theme)

Here is the 2nd of our T themes this week. If you are just checking in now and want to know what theme is for this week, just scroll down and you will see it.

Corinna's Photo:

Edie's Photo: Ok so you would think that get a picture of a tree is easy right? Not always. I unfortunately waited until the last minute to do the assignment, and had to make do with a local park down the street. Unfortunately, the trees there were... um so so. They tended to be all clumped together, with cluttered backgrounds behind them and none of them stood out in any way. So I decided to go with a different type of "tree" shot. I admit this type of shot is one of my favorite, and I have done similar shots like this before but it's still better than an single tree shot I tried getting today.

Week of 10/3 - 10/10: T is for TWO

Sorry everyone.  Edie came down with a bad flu bug the beginning of last week and just didnt get a chance to take her photo until this weekend.   So this week we will be hitting you with a DOUBLE theme week.

The first theme for this week is TWO..  as in one, two buckle my shoe.   Do you have TWO of something near you?  Perhaps you know of an image of a number TWO near you?   This is one of those themes with lots of possibilities.    We can't wait to see what you come up with.

Week of 9/12 to 9/19/10 - SOUND

So last week we had you all staring at the sun, or something that resembles a sun. This week we are asking you to photograph a SOUND or something that symbolizes a SOUND to you. Good luck!

P.S. We don't discuss what our individual photos are going to be ahead of time, only the theme, so this is a total coincidence! LOL

Week of 9/12 to 9/19/10 - SUN

Sorry folks, I know we are late again but its been a busy week as both of us have kids who are now back in school this week.

This week, we move on to the letter S.   The first theme for the letter S is SUN..  Is it sunny out where you are?  Do you have something that reminds you of sunshine?  What represents sun to you?

Week of 09/06 - 09/13: R is for ROCK

Do you "want to Rock & Roll all night"? Do you have a "piece of the rock"? Can you smell "what the Rock is cooking"? Well hopefully you have some kind of ROCK near you, because that is what our word is for this week as we finish out the letter R.

Hope you all like this one! We can't wait to see what everyone does.

Week of 08/29 - 09/06: R is for RAIN

We are FINALLY done with those pesky Q's and are moving on to the letter R which Corinna and I think is a much more photogenic letter. The theme for this week is RAIN. Now I know what some of you may be thinking, "We are smack dab in the middle of summer, where are we going to find RAIN?". Trust me though there is RAIN out there. You might have to be creative and make some of your own.

As always feel free to post links to your RAIN photos below. We can't wait to see what everyone came up with.

Week of 8/23 to 8/30 - Q is for QUARTER

Here is the 2nd theme for Q... (Q is a hard letter for themes by the way) We decided to go with QUARTER. Now you can go with the money idea that Corinna did, or you can take a different approach with QUARTER and do something completely different.

PS - Edie's photo is coming, she just had a external drive issue on her computer and it was suppose to be fix today so she could post her photo. Unfortunately the issue is taking longer to fix that she realized.

Week of 8/15 to 8/22 - Q is for QUIET

Shhhhhhhhhh!! Do you hear that? That's the sound of Shutterbug's starting a new letter and a new theme. The theme for this week is... QUIET. What means "quiet" to you? Do you have a "quiet" spot.

Cant wait to see everyone's photos!

Week of 08/08 - 08/15: P is for PEOPLE

This one should be an easy one for everyone because most of us probably do not have to look very far to find "people" near by. Have fun!

Week of 07/23 - 08/01 P is for PARK

Here is our 2nd theme for this week. We have finished the letter O and are now making our way to the letter P. This week we choose the theme PARK. Now obviously Corinna and I both took pictures of a actual park but our photos are still completely different. So this word is one of those words that you can totally have fun and be creative with.

Cant wait to see what everyone does. Remember feel free to click on the photos to see a bigger image.

Week of 07/23 - 08/01 O is for OPEN

OK... some of you noticed we didn't have a theme last week.  Sorry about that, but Edie has some issues with her photo software and couldn't access any of her photos much less upload new ones from the camera to the computer.  Thankfully she backs up everything and is up and running.

So since we missed last week, we are hitting you with a double theme this week.  The first theme allows us to finish out O, and that theme is OPEN.  What do you have thats OPEN near you?

Edie's Photo:  Ok I had a ton of ideas in my head for this one, everything from an open skyline, open road to an open can of peanuts.  Unfortunately none of them panned out.  Luckily while I was out for a hike I happened across this semi open flower on a cactus.. so thats my picture for this week.

Week of 7/18 to 7/25 - O is for ORANGE

Well believe it or not the year is already halfway over, which also means we are also halfway through the alphabet. We are starting off the 2nd half of the year with the letter O.. and the first word that came to our minds with the letter O was.... ORANGE.

What in your area is Orange?

Corinna's Photo: *Okay, I just want to say here that this flower looks more yellowish now that I have seen it here on the blog, but it REALLY looked orange when I took the photo! It's very strange. Don't want you all thinking I'm trying to cheat here! ha ha

Week of 07/11 - 07/18: Part 2 - NOUN

The 2nd theme for this week is an easy one... NOUN. That's right, all you need to do this week is take a picture of a person, place or a thing. Now if that is not a totally wide open topic I don't know what is. Can't wait to see what you all come up with this week.

Corinna's Photo: I struggled with this one, partly because I waited until the last minute and partly maybe because it was TOO easy. But we just had a rain storm, and I think that afterwards things always look more interesting through my camera lens so I went outside to see what I could find. Then there were so many interesting things that it was hard to choose one!

Edie's Photo: I will admit, this was taken last week before my family was temporarily limited to one car. However I really love this shot, and I love this place, so I thought it would be a good image to go with the theme this week.

Week of 07/11 - 07/18: Part 1 - NATURE

As promised here we have a double post this week with the letter N to get us back on track with the alphabet. The first theme is NATURE... What sort of Nature do you have near you? When you think of Nature, what comes to mind?

Edie's Photo:
I will admit when I think NATURE I prefer to take pictures of mountains and trees, or of flowers and animals before I take a picture of an insect. Unfortunately having only one family car this week made me cancel any possible trips to the mountains and limited my "nature" search to my own somewhat suburban neighborhood. I found this guy building a web, and although Im not found of the creepy- crawlies, I think they do a good job of representing "Nature".

week of 6/27 to 7/4 - M is for MACRO

Ok sorry for missing the post last week everyone.  I (Edie) had a couple of personal matters that came up that took priority.  We are going to finish off the "M" this week, and then next week pull a double duty and have 2 topics for "N".

This week we choose MACRO as the theme.   For Corinna and I, macro images are one of our favorite photo techniques.   Its a great way of seeing the details in something that you might not have noticed before, and it gives you a new perspective on your subject as well.     Some people use a macro lens when shooting their images. (as Corinna and I did).  Macro lens are great because they really let you get close to the subject.   However if you do not have a macro lens, no worries.  Most cameras have a "macro" setting on the camera.  Usually is on a button or dial, and it is represented by the image of a flower.   If you haven't used that setting before, I highly recommend you give it a try and practice on all sorts of things.

Cant wait to see what everyone comes up with! :)

Oh and dont forgot you can click on the photo if you want to see a bigger image.

Week of 6/20 to 6/27 - M is for MOVE/MOVING

The last two weeks allowed us to take a LONG look at the LIGHT around us and although L was a fun letter, it is time for us to MOVE on to the letter M for the next 2 weeks. So that's what we are doing... MOVING. What do you think of when the word "MOVE" comes to mind? Is there something in your life that symbolizes MOVE right now? Do you have something near you that MOVES?

Whatever your interpretation of the word is, make sure you post it in the Mr Linky area below so we can all see what MOVE is to you.

Week of 6/13 to 6/20 - L is for LONG

We are finishing up the letter L by moving away from the LIGHT and moving towards something LONG.    Do you have anything near you that can represent LONG?  If so take a photo and post it below.  We would love to see it.

week of 6/6 to 6/13 L is for LIGHT

Well it looks like kitty might have been a bit more challenging than anticipated for everyone.  Hopefully this next theme might be a little easy for everyone to do, since this week the theme : LIGHT.  I'm sure that no matter where you are, there is bound to be something near you that can be used for LIGHT.  Here is what Corinna and I manage to come up with:

Week of 5/30 to 6/6 -- K is for KITTY

Sorry everyone... Edie got wrapped up in the weekend festivities and forgot that yesterday was Sunday not Saturday.

The topic for this week is KITTY... Now Corinna and I went with the real life version of kitty, however you dont have to go that route. I bet if you look around you, you might find a different take on the word "kitty".

Have fun with this one!

Week of 5/23 to 5/29: K is for KISS

Cranberries - Kiss Me
Kiss me out by the bearded barley
Nightly, besides the green green grass
Swing, Swing, swing the spinning step
You wear those shoes and I will wear that dress
Oh, kiss me beneath the milky twilight
Lead me out on the moonlight floor,
Lift your open hand
Strike up the band and make the fireflies dance
Silver Moon's sparkling, so kiss me.

Anyone want to take a stab at what the theme for this week is?? lol Yes, it's Kiss. What comes to mind when you think of the word Kiss?? So many possibilities for such a small little word. We hope you have fun with it.
